Encore for pair of deal makers

A pair of speculativ­e developers, a philanthro­pist and one of Hollywood’s biggest tickets were among those closing deals in L.A. County’s high-end real estate market in late October and early November.

$22 million — Beverly Crest

After selling a $100-million spec house to Tom Gores, developers

Gala Asher and Ed Berman may have found their next project. Through a limited liability company, the pair bought a French chateau-inspired home in the 2000 block of Wallingfor­d Drive for $2.9 million less than the asking price.

Sitting on more than five acres, the estate centers on a 22,163square-foot home with seven bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Among amenities of note is a 1,500-bottle wine cellar, a climatecon­trolled tasting room, a sauna and a home theater.

A second-floor terrace overlooks the swimming pool and spa.

Mauricio Umansky of the Agency was the listing agent. Ginger Glass of Coldwell Banker Residentia­l Brokerage represente­d the buyers.

$19.8 million — Malibu

A newly remodeled home by architect Doug Burdge sold in the 33000 block of Pacific Coast Highway for $2.2 million less than the asking price of $22 million.

The wood-paneled residence, designed for indoor-outdoor living, features sliding pocket doors, a chef ’s kitchen and 125 feet of beachfront. A second-floor master suite has a fireplace and an eggshaped soaking tub.

Also within the grounds is a three-bedroom guesthouse with a media room and a kitchenett­e. Views take in the ocean and coastline.

Christophe­r Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker represente­d both sides of the deal.

$17.085 million — Bel-Air

In the 10000 block of Levico Way, an arm of Chinese entertainm­ent company Huayi Brothers bought an eight-plus-acre property in a gated community.

Found within a guard-gated community of just four homes, the undevelope­d property includes a flat portion of more than two acres. Views from the site take in downtown L.A., Century City and Stone Canyon Reservoir.

The property relisted in January for $19.95 million and was more recently listed at $17.95 million, records show.

Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency had the listing. Michael Chen of T.N.G. Real Estate Consultant represente­d the buyer.

$16.2 million — Bel-Air

Noel Irwin Hentschel, cofounder of inbound travel company AmericanTo­urs Internatio­nal, and her husband, Gordon

Hentschel, sold a French Normandy-inspired home to a limited liability company with ties to philanthro­pist Yvonne Niami.

Sitting on nearly an acre in the 300 block of Copa de Oro Road, the estate is fronted by one of two large motor courts.

Inside, the 10,300 square feet of living space features scaled formal rooms, a wood-paneled library and a gym. The master suite has his and hers bathrooms and dressing rooms, for a total of eight bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms.

Joe Babajian of Rodeo Realty and Linda May of Hilton & Hyland were the listing agents. Drew Fenton, also of Hilton & Hyland, represente­d the buyer.

$12.965 million — Brentwood

Actor Tobey Maguire of “Spider-Man” film fame paid $30,000 shy of the asking price for a newly built home on North Cliffwood Avenue.

Built in a modern farmhouse style, the residence has oak and polished concrete floors, custom woodwork and marble baths. An elevator runs between each of the home’s two floors as well as a basement level with a media room, a gym and a wet bar.

Six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms include a master suite with a fireplace and two walk-in closets.

Outdoors, there’s an infinityed­ge swimming pool, various patios and a built-in barbecue.
