Villanova rallies to protect its No. 1 ranking

Josh Hart scored a career-high 37 points and No. 1 Villanova rallied from an 11point deficit to beat No. 23 Notre Dame, 74-66, on Saturday at Newark, N.J.

Hart was the only Villanova player to score in double figures. He was 10 for 14 from the field, including three for four from threepoint range, and made all 14 of his free-throw attempts.

Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia had 18 points each for Notre Dame (9-1), which came into the game as one of eight unbeaten teams remaining in Division I.

Villanova (10-0) took its first lead at 57-56 on Jalen Brunson’s layup off a Hart assist with 9:09 to play, seconds after Eric Paschall had blocked Vasturia's threepoint attempt.

at No. 3 Kansas 89, Nebraska 72: Frank Mason III had 18 points, seven assists and no turnovers, and the Jayhawks (9-1) beat a former conference rival despite playing without suspended forward Carlton Bragg Jr. The Cornhusker­s are 5-5.

No. 5 Duke 94, Nevada Las Vegas 45: Grayson Allen made 12 of 16 shots, including seven of seven in the second half, and scored a career-high 34 points as the Blue Devils (10-1) routed the Runnin’ Rebels (5-4) in the first college basketball game ever played at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

at No. 8 Gonzaga 61, Akron 43:

Przemek Karnowski had 14 points and eight rebounds, and the Bulldogs held the Zips to 26.7% shooting in improving to 10-0.

No. 20 Arizona 79, at Missouri 60:

Rawle Alkins and Kobi Simmons each scored 19 points and Kadeem Allen had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Wildcats (8-2) beat the Tigers (5-4).

at No. 13 Xavier 77, Utah 69:

J.P. Macura scored 18 points, and the Musketeers (8-2) outrebound­ed the nation’s top rebounding team, beating the Utes (6-2) on the boards, 33-28.

at No. 16 Butler 75, No. 22 Cincinnati 65:

Kelan Martin scored 20 points, and the Bulldogs (9-1) rebounded from their first loss.

at No. 9 Indiana 103, Houston Baptist 61:

James Blackmon Jr. scored 18 points for the Hoosiers (8-1).

No. 17 Wisconsin 93, at Marquette 84:

Bronson Koenig scored 18 points to help the Badgers (7-2) beat the Golden Eagles (7-3).
