Salas takes lead in Australia

American Lizette Salas shot a two-under 71 to take a two-stroke lead over two Australian­s and a Thai golfer heading into the final round of the Women’s Australian Open at Royal Adelaide.

Australian Olympian Su Oh had the round of the day, a 68, and was tied for second with 36-hole leader Sarah Jane Smith (74) and Pornanong Phatlum (73). Defending champion Haru Nomura of Japan had a 69 and was in a group tied for seventh, four strokes behind.

Miguel Angel Jimenez birdied two of the last four holes to take a one-stroke lead over Fred Couples and Kevin Sutherland into the final round of the Chubb Classic in Naples, Fla. Jimenez birdied the par-four 15th and par-five 17th in a bogey-free, five-under 67 that got him to 12-under 132 in the PGA Tour Champions event at the TwinEagles Club. Bob Tway (68) and Doug Garwood (70) were tied for fourth at nine under.

Mikaela Shiffrin was in a world of her own Saturday, extending her unbeaten record in slalom gold-medal events. The 2014 Olympic champion won her specialist event at a third straight ski world championsh­ips, and by a huge margin of 1.64 seconds, at St. Moritz, Switzerlan­d.

Still only 21. the American star was nerveless, ruthless and stylish, turning a first-run lead of 0.38 seconds over the home fans’ favorite, Wendy Holdener, into a rout. Frida Hansdotter of Sweden was third, trailing by 1.75. With Shiffrin also getting a silver medal in giant slalom, the U.S. team’s tally is three medals. Lindsey Vonn took bronze in downhill.

Ryan Harrison defeated fellow American Donald Young, 6-4, 6-4, at the Memphis Open semifinals, advancing to his first career final. Harrison will play Nikoloz Basilashvi­li of Georgia, a 7-6 (5), 6-1 winner over Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan, for the championsh­ip Sunday . ... Karolina Pliskova beat Caroline Wozniacki for the first time and won their Qatar Open final, 6-3, 6-4, in Doha . ... Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France celebrated his 400th career win in style by beating fourth-seeded Tomas Berdych, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the final of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, the Netherland­s. Tsonga will play third-seeded David Goffin of Belgium in the final. Goffin easily won, 6-1, 6-3, against French qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
