CHRISTINE BARANSKI

-

Attorney Diane Lockhart from the CBS drama The Good Wife is back tonight in The Good Fight on the streaming service CBS All Access. Reprising her character in the spinoff series is Emmy-winning actress Christine Baranski, 64. Tell us a bit about Diane. She is trying to get her footing in a world where she’s been robbed and cheated of her money by family members, and the firm that she created won’t give her job back. She’s estranged from her husband, who cheated on her. Have you heard from Julianna Margulies,

the star of The Good Wife? Yes, we’re great friends. She was done after seven years. She said, “I’m exhausted, I’ve told the story, I need to get back to my husband and my child. I want a life,” and so she gracefully passed the baton. You’ve had quite the run on TV. But before that you did Broadway, with two Tony awards to prove it. The nice thing about The Good Fight is it’s 10 episodes, and if it were to continue, I would have a good part of my year off where I could do a play. You never want to stay away from the stage for too long. Do you have a philosophy that helps you get

out of bed in the morning? I am a person who counts her blessings. I realize that I’m at the tippy top of the planetary heap, given what’s going on in the world. Whenever I think to complain I always say, “But it’s a Champagne problem.” I don’t really have problems. I am the luckiest person. How did she rebound from the death of her husband and how does she feel about being a “working grandma”? Go to Parade.com/baranski to find out.
