On Monday, May 29, 2017, Amparo Genoveva Acosta Nevarez Loredo passed away at the age of one hundred and one and 5 months. She was born in Metcalf, Arizona, on January 3, 1916. She is survived by her daughter, Milika Nevárez, son-in-law, Richard Crawford, grandsons Alejandro and Agustín Nevárez-Crawford, and granddaughter Cheyla Ramirez Crawford, as well as countless nieces and nephews, by whom she was adored. Donations in her name may be made to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (634 S. Spring Street, 1100, L.A., CA 90014). A memorial service is planned for the fall.
