A replicant? Don’t ask Ford

- — Libby Hill

The “Blade Runner 2049” portion of Saturday morning’s Warner Bros. panel kicked off with a Jared Leto hologram after a timeline of the history of the “Blade Runner” universe unfurled on wraparound screens in Hall H.

Veteran “Blade Runner” actor Harrison Ford joined newcomer Ryan Gosling and director Denis Villeneuve alongside other cast members and the writers.

Villeneuve was transparent with what drove his interest in continuing the “Blade Runner” mythology: “Because I didn’t want anybody else to ... it up.”

When asked by an audience member whether his intent was to reboot every great film he’d been in, a reference to Ford’s appearances in recent years in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” “The Force Awakens” and “Blade Runner 2049,” Ford gamely answered, “You bet your ... it is.”

When asked whether his character, Rick Deckard, was a replicant, though, Ford made his position clear. “It doesn’t matter what I think,” the actor snorted.

Audience members were treated to a new clip from the film, set for release Oct. 6, featuring Gosling’s character walking through a hall of replicants.
