Jedrzejczy­k fight added to UFC 217

Joanna Jedrzejczy­k will defend her strawweigh­t championsh­ip against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in November, the promotion announced.

The unbeaten Jedrzejczy­k is going for her sixth consecutiv­e title defense, which would tie Ronda Rousey. In other fights, former welterweig­ht champ Georges St-Pierre will make his return in a middleweig­ht title bout against champion Michael Bisping; bantamweig­ht champ Cody Garbrandt is expected to face former champ T.J. Dillashaw; and Mickey Gall will fight Randy Brown.

In other news: Jeff Novitzky, UFC’s vice president of athlete health and performanc­e, confirmed to MMAFightin­g.com and MMAJunkie.com that Jon Jones ’B sample from July also tested positive for the steroid Turinabol. Jones, whose failed drug test is the second of his career, faces a maximum suspension of four years.

Los Angeles has received its formal go-ahead to host the 2028 Olympics, getting a thumbs-up from the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee’s evaluation commission. On Wednesday, the full IOC will award the 2024 Games to Paris and the 2028 Games to Los Angeles . ...
