U.S. to release jobless data

Weekly jobless claims data will be released Thursday. The number of Americans filing for unemployment benef its for the week that ended Sept. 9 was down but still elevated. Initial claims for benef its fell 14,000 to a seasonally adjusted 284,000. Economists said the claims probably were increased by job losses related to Hurricane Harvey. The new figures will reflect Hurricane Irma’s effect.
