Pryor says K.C. fan used racial taunts

-

The NFL is looking into a situation Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City during which Washington Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor says he was called racist names and cursed at by a fan.

Pryor posted on Instagram story on Wednesday that it got so bad during the game against the Chiefs that a league employee had to stand by him from the second quarter on. Pryor apologized to teammates and the organization for “f licking the person off.”

NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said the league is looking into “all aspects” of Pryor’s claim and will report back when the review is complete. The Chiefs say they have looked into Pryor’s claims and haven’t found anything to substantiate them.

“Washington didn’t make our people aware of an incident, the people we have on the sideline didn’t see one before or after the game and as far as we know, no one from the league office was called to his aid during or after the game,” said Ted Crews, the Chiefs’ vice president of communications. “There was no incident or report from the stands.”

Garrett to play

Myles Garrett, the No. 1 pick in the draft, will finally line up Sunday for the winless Cleveland Browns as they face the New York Jets.

The Browns, 1-19 in two seasons under coach Hue Jackson, have badly missed the 6-foot-4, 275-pound Garrett, and Jackson hopes he can make an immediate impact as an edge rusher.

“I would love to see that happen,” Jackson said. “That is the plan, but I think his first game, he hasn’t played all year. This is our fifth game of the year. We are just going to be excited to have him out there, and we will see what kind of impact he can make on this football game.”

Newton is dropped as spokesman

Dannon, the maker of Oikos yogurt, cut ties with spokesman Cam Newton on Thursday following what the company perceives as “sexist” comments the Carolina Panthers quarterback made to a female reporter.

The Dannon statement noted the company perceives Newton’s comments as “sexist and disparaging to all women. It’s simply not OK to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him.”

Newton apologized for his comments in a Twitter post Thursday night.

Etc.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford rejoined the team for practice for the first time in two weeks, raising the possibility that he might return as the starter for Monday’s game at Chicago . ... Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee missed a second consecutive practice Thursday because of injured ribs, raising questions about his availability Sunday at Pittsburgh. Lee has 13 receptions for 159 yards this season. He also is tied for the NFL lead with four dropped passes.
