Confiscating 300 million guns

Re “A gun’s purpose,” letters, Oct. 12

One letter writer suggests not only repealing the 2nd Amendment, but also making gun ownership without a special permit a crime and hiring federal employees to confiscate the more than 300 million firearms in circulation nationally.

This absurd idea is just too outrageous to imagine. Is the letter writer planning to apply for one of these jobs as a gun confiscator for the federal government? Teri Felker
