Auburn fires indicted associate coach

- Wire reports

Auburn announced Wednesday that it fired associate head men’s basketball coach Chuck Person, who was among eight people indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in New York on bribery, conspiracy and fraud charges.

The school said Person, 53, was fired Oct. 18. He had been suspended without pay after being arrested in September.

Person allegedly got $91,500 in bribes to steer Auburn players to financial adviser Marty Blazer when they turn pro. Person told Blazer he gave $18,500 of that to the families of two Auburn players, according to a federal complaint.
