Kansas football coach David Beaty announced that Dorance Armstrong Jr., Daniel Wise and Joe Dineen Jr. were stripped of their team captaincy for refusing to shake Oklahoma quarterbac­k Baker Mayfield’s hand during Saturday’s pregame coin toss.

Mayfield, who led the Sooners to a 41-3 victory, was caught grabbing his crotch and cursing at the Jayhawks bench. He is no longer a team captain.

Louisville said in an appeal filed last month that the NCAA’s Committee on Infraction­s imposed “grossly excessive” penalties in ordering the school to vacate up to 123 victories in men’s basketball, including the 2013 national title and 2012 Final Four appearance.

The NCAA in June put Louisville on four years’ probation after an investigat­ion into an escort’s book found allegation­s that former Cardinals staffer Andre McGee hired her and other dancers for sex parties with players and recruits from 2010 to 2014.

Retired NBA star Ray Allen said he is a victim of “catfishing,” and has asked a court in Orange County, Fla., to throw out a case where he is accused of stalking someone he met online.

Allen filed an emergency motion one day after Bryant Coleman told the court he is being stalked by the 10-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion.

Allen said Coleman is the one doing the stalking.

Gustav Svensson and Will Bruin scored in the first half, and Seattle beat Houston 2-0 in the first leg of the Western Conference final. The second of two legs of the aggregate-goals series is Nov. 30 in Seattle . ... Toronto and host Columbus Crew played to a 0-0 tie in the first leg of the Eastern Conference final. World champion figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia might not be able to compete in the Grand Prix final next month because of a broken foot.

Medvedeva, who is unbeaten in two years, said her two Grand Prix victories this season were achieved on painkiller­s because of a fractured metatarsal bone.

Grand Slam tennis tournament­s are planning to return to seeding only 16 players, instead of 32, starting in 2019 and will give a player who is a late withdrawal because of an injury 50% of the firstround prize money.
