Predators place Forsberg on IR

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg, who leads the team with 15 goals and 34 points and is tied for the team lead with 19 assists, has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

The Predators did not offer a timetable for Forsberg’s return. As a result of being placed on injured reserve, which is at least one week in length, Forsberg will miss at least three games.

The high-scoring Swede played in all 82 regularsea­son games for Nashville the last three seasons and all 42 postseason games in that span as well.

New York Jets running back Matt Forte has been placed on IR. The 32-year-old, who has been playing with swelling in his surgically repaired right knee, finished his second season with the Jets with a career-low 381 yards rushing. Starting guard Brian Winters announced he’ll have surgery on his torn abdominal and abductor muscles . ... New New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman fired Marc Ross, the team’s vice president of player evaluation and architect of college scouting, and waived right tackle Bobby Hart . ... The Minnesota Vikings placed long snapper Kevin McDermott on injured reserve.

Orlando Magic rookie forward Jonathan Isaac, the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, is out indefinite­ly with a right ankle injury that has kept him out of 20 of the team’s 36 games. He’s averaging 5.3 points and 3.7 rebounds.

Bryan Fletcher qualified for his second consecutiv­e Olympic team in Nordic Combined after rallying for a victory at the U.S. Trials in Park City, Utah.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said Zlatan Ibrahimovi­c would be out for a month with a knee injury, and fellow striker Romelu Lukaku is expected to miss at least two games after he was carried off on a stretcher following a clash of heads Saturday in a 0-0 draw against Southampto­n. United slipped to third in the Premier League.
