Nassar’s victims recount his abuse

Gymnasts and other victims of a disgraced former sports doctor stepped forward in a Lansing, Mich., courtroom to recount the sexual abuse and emotional trauma Larry Nassar inflicted on them as children.

Nearly 100 women and girls planned to speak or have their statements read during an extraordin­ary four-day sentencing hearing. Many of them cried as they told their stories. Some requested that their identities not be made public. The judge consoled the victims and said they should not blame themselves.

Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford returned to practice following a 21-game absence because of headaches caused by sleep deprivatio­n. Clifford said when he began experienci­ng intense headaches in early December it scared him, and he decided to take a medical leave of absence. Medical tests revealed nothing wrong internally, but Clifford said doctors told him he needed to dramatical­ly change his lifestyle . ... The brother and agent of 2005 Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldinho announced that the former Brazil and Barcelona playmaker has retired from soccer.

Basketball Hall of Famer Jo Jo White, a two-time NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, has died. He was 71. No cause of death was provided.
