Purdue extends win streak to 16
Vincent Edwards scored 30 points, Isaac Haas added 24 and No. 3 Purdue matched a school record with its 16th consecutive victory Thursday night, using a late charge to wrap up a 9288 victory over No. 25 Michigan at West Lafayette, Ind.
The Boilermakers, 20-2 overall and 9-0 in the Big Ten, have won 20 consecutive games at Mackey Arena and are off to their best start in conference play in the NCAA tournament era. It’s the fourth time Purdue has won 16 in a row, most recently 30 years ago.
Said Haas, the Boilermakers’ 7-foot-2 center: “I knew going into the game that Michigan wasn’t going to try to double that much because we have too many good shooters and I figured they’d take their chances going one-on-one in the paint. I capitalized on it a lot today.”
Michigan (17-6, 6-4) was led by Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, who scored a career-high 26 points. The Wolverines were swept by Purdue in the regular season for the first time in 10 years.
