Re “Rep. Nunes’ hometown cares little about memo,” Feb. 7

As a resident of California’s 22nd Congressional District, I care about water — and healthcare, and poverty, and jobs, and immigration, and the environment, and all the pressing issues that impact residents of the Central Valley on a daily basis. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Tulare) consistently fails to attend to these important issues.

His constituents are among the most vulnerable in our nation; Fresno and Tulare counties rank among the poorest in the country. Over the last year, thousands have marched and protested about these issues, written letters and voiced their frustration over Nunes’ lack of attention to the needs of his district. He consistently ignores invitations to meet with his constituents.

I have no faith in Nunes or his true concern for this community. This is not a small spat over the Russia investigation; it is about the well-being of our district and our nation. Laura Novak Winer Fresno

I do not know what efforts the Los Angeles Times made to reach a cross-section of the voters in the 22nd District, where I have lived for many years.

The thousands of voters I know think Nunes is one of the most dangerous and worst representatives in Congress. He refuses to meet with his constituents.

If Nunes were truly concerned about the welfare and security of our country, he would be working with the members of the House Intelligence Committee he chairs on a bipartisan basis and not be a one-man operation working in secret to write a memo based on cherrypicked information. Well folks, here we are. Has Russia won without firing a shot?

Many of Nunes’ constituents say they are more concerned about jobs and water than Russia. It appears the gullible have thrown in the towel when it comes to Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.

President Trump’s businesses are apparently swimming in Russian money, and the Tulare County folks could not care less. America has a real problem that goes far beyond Trump. Stephen J. Bost
