List holds one-shot lead at Honda Classic

-

Luke List made birdie from the bunker on the final hole Saturday for a four-under-par 66 and a oneshot lead in the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

List is at seven-under 203. He is seeking his first PGA Tour victory.

Justin Thomas was never far away from the lead, and the final hour changed everything. He had three birdies over his last five holes for a 65 to match the low round of the tournament. Webb Simpson, who has not won in more than four years, played bogey-free for a 66. Thomas and Simpson are tied for second.

Tiger Woods broke 70 for the first time on the PGA Tour since August 2015, a span of only 12 rounds because of three back surgeries, and his one-under 69 at least raised his hopes.

“I know I’ll be an underdog going against Justin Thomas and guys like that, which is fine,” List said.

“It’s kind of nice having Tiger in the field now because he takes all the attention off everybody else, so you can just kind of go out and do your own thing.”

Woods was seven shots behind List.

“I’ve got a shot going into tomorrow,” Woods said.

Jessica Korda shot a fourunder 68 in the third round of the LPGA Thailand at Chonburi to lead Moriya Jutanugarn by four strokes. Jutanugarn shot 65 for a total of 16-under 200.

Quarterback Blake Bortles signed a three-year, $54-million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The deal includes $26.5 million guaranteed.

The Jaguars announced the move one day after handing out two-year extensions to top executive Tom Coughlin, coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell.

The Jaguars won the AFC South for the first time and reached the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

They made the AFC title game for the first time since 2000, losing to New England 24-20 after having a 10-point fourth-quarter lead.

In his fourth season in the NFL, Bortles, 25, played 19 games despite having a partially torn ligament in his right wrist that required surgery last month.

He completed a career-high 60% of his passes for 3,687 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

“Blake’s growth and development last season was a key to the success we had as a team,” Coughlin said in a statement. “Blake has proven, with toughness and dependability, that he can be the leader this team needs.”
