Michigan bounces Michigan State

Mo Wagner scored 14 of his 15 points after a dreadful first half and fifth-seeded Michigan moved within a game of its second straight Big Ten Tournament title with Saturday’s 75-64 win over Michigan State.

Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman and Zavier Simpson also had 15 for the No. 15 Wolverines, who also were the previous team to beat No. 2 Michigan State, on Jan. 13. Michigan will face No. 8 Purdue, which beat Penn State 78-70, for the title.

Miles Bridges had 17 points to lead Michigan State, which had a 13-game winning streak snapped.

Notre Dame 57: Devon Hall scored 17 points in his final home game and the Cavaliers won their fifth in a row.

No. 3 Xavier 65, at DePaul 62: Trevon Bluiett scored 22 points and the Musketeers set a school record for regular-season wins (27) and clinched the Big East top seed. The Musketeers hung on for their 12th win in 13 games. That ended Villanova’s four-year run of first-place finishes.

at No. 5 Duke 74, No. 9 North Carolina 64: Marvin Bagley III had 18 of his 21 points in the second half with 15 rebounds to help the Blue Devils clinch the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

at Oklahoma State 82, No. 6 Kansas 64: Kendall Smith scored a career-high 25 points as the Cowboys became the first team to sweep the season series from the Jayhawks since 2003-04, a span of 103 series. Kansas had a five-game winning streak snapped.

at No. 16 Tennessee 66, Georgia 61: Admiral Schofield scored 23 points as the Volunteers rallied to win a share of the Southeaste­rn Conference title. No. 14 Auburn also clinched a share with a 79-70 win over South Carolina, as Bryce Brown made eight threes and scored 29 points. It’s the Tigers’ first regular-season title since 1999.

at Syracuse 55, No. 18 Clemson 52: The Orange, coming off a 15-point loss at Boston College, got a big win for their postseason hopes.

at Florida 80, No. 23 Kentucky 67: Jalen Hudson scored 22 points as the Gators swept the Wildcats and ended their four-game winning streak.
