LAS VEGAS — Reid Travis had 19 points and 13 rebounds, helping Stanford roll over rival California 7658 in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament on Wednesday.

Stanford (18-14) shot well early to build a double-digit lead and shut the Bears down defensively to earn a spot in Thursday’s quarterfinals against fourth-seeded UCLA.

The fifth-seeded Cardinal held Cal to 28% shooting and had a 30-18 advantage in the paint. Travis made seven of 11 shots and Dorian Pickens scored 16 points.

“Reid is always going to be a focal point of the defense, for good reason, because he’s a focal point of our offense as well,” Stanford coach Jerod Haase said. “When he gets going, it certainly draws attention to him. When that happens, it kind of frees some of the other guys up as well.”

No. 12 seed Cal (8-24) closed out a difficult first season under Wyking Jones with its seventh straight loss and 16th in 17 games.

Darius McNeill led the Bears with 19 points.

Colorado 97, Arizona State 85: McKinley Wright IV had 20 points and 11 assists, and the Buffaloes put a dent in the Sun Devils’ NCAA tournament hopes.

Colorado (17-14) made 13 of 21 from three-point range and took control of a close game with a 15-1 run midway through the second half.

The Buffaloes shot 54%t overall to earn a spot in Thursday’s quarterfinals against No. 15 Arizona.

Arizona State (20-11) had a pair of long stretches without a field goal in the second half and went 12 for 21 from the free-throw line to lose a game it needed to win. The Sun Devils went 12-0 in nonconference play and were ranked third in the AP poll before fading in the Pac-12.

Oregon State 69, Washington 66 (OT): Drew Eubanks scored 19 points, Stephen Thompson Jr. added 14 and the Beavers (16-15) advanced to a matchup against USC.

Oregon State’s Tres Tinkle made four free throws in the final seconds of overtime, and the Huskies David Crisp got a good look at a tying three-pointer, but it caromed off the back of the rim.

Matisse Thybulle had 19 points and Noah Dickerson 15 points as Washington (2012) saw its slim NCAA tournament hopes disappear.

Oregon 64, Washington State 62 (OT): Payton Pritchard scored underneath with 28 seconds to go in overtime to give the Ducks (20-11) a 63-62 lead, and they held on. The Cougars (12-18) led for most of the game, but in the end suffered their 10th consecutive Pac-12 tournament loss.
