Women’s summit coming to L.A.
In 2016, the feminist organization the United State of Women staged its first summit in Washington, D.C.
Held in partnership with the White House Council on Women and Girls and hosted by Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, the summit brought together 5,000 women, girls and allies to discuss issues such as entrepreneurship and violence against women.
The movement will reconvene in L.A. on May 5-6 and will focus on economic empowerment, civic engagement, women’s health and reproductive justice and human rights.
Speakers will include Mayor Eric Garcetti, former Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth, actresses Jane Fonda and Rowan Blanchard and #MeToo founder Tarana Burke.
