Rosen sharp in Cardinals victory

Free-agent acquisition Sam Bradford and 10th overall draft choice Josh Rosen combined to provide a promising outlook for the Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback situation.

After Bradford completed all six of his passes for 61 yards, Rosen went 10 of 16 for 107 yards, including a 13yard touchdown to rookie Christian Kirk, in a 20-15 preseason victory Saturday over host New Orleans.

Buffalo quarterback AJ McCarron fractured his right collarbone, the Buffalo News reported, throwing the Bills’ quarterback situation into disarray, during a 19-17 win over the visiting Cleveland Browns. McCarron, who is competing for the starting job, was hit hard from behind by Myles Garrett and sacked by Larry Ogunjobi.

Christian McCaffrey had 120 yards from scrimmage in the first half, including a 71-yard touchdown run, and the Carolina Panthers defeated the Miami Dolphins 27-20 in Charlotte. Cam Newton was nine of 12 for 89 yards, including a 27yard touchdown pass to speedy rookie tight end Ian Thomas.

Matt Ryan led the Atlanta Falcons on a touchdown drive on their first possession, hooking up with Austin Hooper on a fouryard scoring pass, and led another impressive drive before calling it a night in a 2814 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Atlanta.

Davis Webb took advantage of his opportunity to play for Eli Manning, throwing a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter to help the New York Giants beat the Detroit Lions 30-17.

Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant concluded his visit with Cleveland without agreeing to a contract, but “conversations continue” between the sides, a person familiar with negotiations told the Associated Press . ... The Seattle Seahawks added veteran linebacker Erik Walden and terminated the contract of defensive end Marcus Smith . ... The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive back Dexter McCoil to a one-year contract. The 49ers placed safety Terrell Williams Jr. on injured reserve with a leg injury to make roster room.
