Judith Ann Katz – beautiful, brave and beloved beyond belief – was born in Los Angeles February 16, 1940, precious daughter of loving parents, Bessie and Leon Rothschild. Judy’s great sense of humor and grace got her through University High (Class ’58), a fun-filled stint at Santa Monica College, she attended USC and later Pierce College. At University of Southern California, she met future husband Burton Katz. Judy and Burton successfully navigated the seas of life together, celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary on August 20th of this year.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband Hon. Burton S. Katz and cherished by devoted daughters, Nicole Katz-Chiari, a lawyer and gemologist and Alyssa Katz, a writer, both of Los Angeles. Their mother was the sun around which their world orbited and she will always be a source of brilliant light for them.

Judy’s great sensitivity and insight will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Her upbeat personality and offbeat take on life never waned, even during the most difficult of times. She will forever be remembered as truly inspirational and forever young to the very end. Life without her is unthinkable and yet we will continue to honor her with the hope of one day living up to the legacy of light and love that she left behind.

Private services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018. An announcement of celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation to one of Judy’s favorite charities, we would be most grateful: scleroderma.org and janegoodall.org.
