Murder charge in golfer’s death
Iowa State golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena, the reigning Big 12 champion and the school’s female athlete of the year, was found dead at a golf course in Ames, and 22-year-old Collin Daniel Richards has been charged with first-degree murder.
Police said Arozamena, 22, had been assaulted.
“We are all devastated,” Iowa State women’s golf coach Christie Martens said in a statement.
The NHL has begun its investigation in the case of former Kings defenseman Slava Voynov, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly confirmed. Voynov can apply for reinstatement into the league after his criminal record was expunged in July. He was suspended following his no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of corporal injury to a spouse in 2015. — Curtis Zupke

The Institute of National Anti-Doping Organizations lashed out at a recommendation to end the nearly three-year suspension of RUSADA.
