Butler helps Baylor upset Iowa State

Jared Butler scored 17 points, Freddie Gillespie had 14 and Baylor defeated No. 19 Iowa State 73-69 on Tuesday night.

The Bears (17-9, 8-5 Big 12 Conference) outrebound­ed the host Cyclones 44-28, including 18 offensive rebounds.

Iowa State (19-7, 8-5) trailed by 10 points midway through the first half but went ahead 52-50 with 11 minutes 45 seconds to play. The teams swapped the lead seven times in the next eight minutes.

No. 4 Kentucky 66, at Missouri 58: PJ Washington and Tyler Herro each scored 18 points for the Wildcats (22-4, 11-2 Southeaste­rn Conference), who looked a little sluggish three days after beating then-top-ranked Tennessee. Ronnie Suggs had 13 points for the Tigers (12-13, 3-10).

at No. 5 Tennessee 58, Vanderbilt 46: Grant Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and the Volunteers (24-2, 12-1 Southeaste­rn Conference) handed the Commodores (9-17, 0-13) their 14th consecutiv­e defeat, matching the program’s longest skid.

No. 15 Purdue 48 at Indiana 46: Matt Haarms tipped in a basket with 3.2 seconds remaining to lift the Boilermake­rs (19-7, 12-3 Big Ten Conference), who have won three games in a row at Assembly Hall for the first time. The Hoosiers (13-13, 411) lost their fourth consecutiv­e game.

No. 24 Maryland 66, at No. 21 Iowa 65: Bruno Fernando scored 11 points, including the last two on a putback with 7.8 seconds left, and the Terrapins (20-7, 11-5 Big Ten) survived after giving up an 11-point lead over the final four minutes. Jordan Bohannon scored 14 points for the Hawkeyes (20-6, 9-6), who had won four games in a row.

at No. 25 Buffalo 114, Ohio 67: Jayvon Graves scored 26 points for the Bulls (23-2, 11-2 Mid-American Conference), who set school records for three-point baskets with 19 and points against a Division I opponent. Buffalo has a 23-game home winning streak. Jason Carter had 16 points for the Bobcats (11-14, 3-10).
