STATS CORNER
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is Sunday, with Harold Baines, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera and Lee Smith being honored. So let’s look at those not in the Hall by using Hall of Fame Monitor created by sabermetrics godfather Bill James. The monitor assigns points for various career stats and accomplishments. A player scoring more than 130 points is nearly a lock. From 100-129 is a probable Hall of Famer, 80-99 is close and under 80 needs work. Babe Ruth is the all-time leader with 458 points. These are players with at least 100 points who are eligible but are not in the Hall:
