A teacher at a Catholic high school in Panorama City was arrested last week after Los Angeles police alleged he was in possession of child pornography.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division took Nain DoPorto, 46, into custody at his home in North Hollywood at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday after an investigation by the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force, authorities said.

He was being held at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles in lieu of $43,450 bail, according to arrest records.

The circumstances surrounding DoPorto’s arrest were not clear.

DoPorto has worked at St. Genevieve High school since 2001.

He most recently taught English and drama, according to his LinkedIn page.

His name no longer appears on the high school’s website.

DoPorto was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation, according to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

“Law enforcement indicate that, to date, their investigation does not suggest any of the students at St. Genevieve are involved in the matter,” the archdiocese said in a statement. “The school and the archdiocese are in communication with the LAPD and are fully cooperating in the ongoing investigation.

“The safety and well-being of the entire school community is of the utmost priority.”

Anyone with information is being asked to call LAPD Det. Lissette Garcia at (562) 624-4027.
