Two cyclists DQ’d after altercation
Two riders, including a teammate of defending Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas, were kicked out of the race after they got into an altercation. Governing body UCI and race organizers said that Thomas’ teammate Luke Rowe and Tony Martin, who rides in support of Jumbo-Visma leader Steven Kruijswijk, were disqualified. The decision is a blow for both Thomas and Kruijswijk, who were second and third in the overall standings behind race leader Julian Alaphilippe.

Diego Maradona had surgery on his right knee, the first of two procedures recommended by doctors. Maradona’s attorney Matias Morla said the retired Argentine soccer great underwent the procedure in Buenos Aires.
American Lilly King was disqualified from the 200-meter breaststroke preliminaries at the world swimming championships in Gawngju, South Korea, on Thursday. King won the third heat in 2 minutes 24.56 seconds, but was disqualified for not touching the wall with both hands at the same time in the first turn of the four-lap race, according to USA Swimming. The U.S. team filed a formal appeal.
Former Kings forward Matt Moulson signed a one-year contract with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, the team announced. Moulson, 35, has played for the Kings’ affiliate, the Ontario Reign, the past two seasons as a player on loan from the Buffalo Sabres, who placed him on waivers in 2017.
