U.S. Soccer, Cup team hit impasse

Players for the World Cup champion women’s national team say mediation talks with the U.S. Soccer Federation in their dispute over equal pay are over and that they look forward to a jury trial.

“We entered this week’s mediation with representa­tives of USSF full of hope,” said Molly Levinson, who represents the players. “Today we must conclude these meetings sorely disappoint­ed in the federation’s determinat­ion to perpetuate fundamenta­lly discrimina­tory workplace conditions and behavior.”

U.S. Soccer did not immediatel­y respond to a request for comment.

A day after Jay-Z announced that his Roc Nation company was partnering with the NFL, he explained that he still supports protesting, kneeling and NFL player Colin Kaepernick, but he’s also interested in working with the league to make substantia­l changes.
