Fields and Buckeyes easy winners

Justin Fields threw for four touchdowns, J.K. Dobbins rushed for 121 yards and No. 4 Ohio State pounded Northweste­rn 52-3 on Friday night in Evanston, Ill.

The Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) did exactly as expected and blew the game open early, jumping to a 31-3 halftime lead.

Fields completed 18 of 23 passes for 194 yards. The sophomore transfer from Georgia matched his career high for touchdowns through the air. He has 22 passing and 30 overall on the season.

The nation’s secondlead­ing rusher, Dobbins scored from the five in the second quarter after breaking off a 67-yard run. He also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass in the first half. The junior has 947 yards rushing after finishing with more than 1,000 in each of his first two seasons.

Pittsburgh 27, at Syracuse 20: Kenny Pickett threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, one of them coming on a trick play to put the Panthers (5-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) ahead for good for their fourth straight win.

Syracuse (3-4, 0-3) is the only team in the ACC’s Atlantic Division without a conference win.

Marshall 36, at Florida Atlantic 31: Brenden Knox scored the go-ahead touchdown with 36 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lead the Thundering Herd (4-3, 2-1 Conference USA) past the Owls (4-3, 2-1).

at Fresno State 56, Nevada Las Vegas 27: Ronnie Rivers and Josh Hokit combined for 84 yards and five touchdowns in 21 carries as the Bulldogs (3-3, 1-1 Mountain West) rolled past the Rebels (2-5, 0-3). Fresno’s Jorge Reyna completed 16 of 23 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown. Reyna also rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown in four carries.
