Wolfe wins Abaco Classic

Jared Wolfe won the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at Baha Mar for his first Korn Ferry Tour title, closing with a three-under-par 69 in strong wind for a fourstroke victory over Brandon Harkins.

A winner each of the last three years on PGA Tour Latinoamer­ica, Wolfe finished at 18-under 270 at Royal Blue Golf Course.

The 31-year-old former Murray State player earned $108,000. Harkins finished with a 72. Billy Kennerly (67), Curtis Thompson (71) and Nick Hardy (71) tied for third at 13 under.

Alana Beard, a two-time WNBA defensive player of the year who has played eight seasons for the Sparks, told radio show host Tim Fletcher that she was retiring.

Beard was the No. 2 overall pick out of Duke in the 2004 WNBA draft and was a nine-time WNBA all-defensive player during her 16-year career. — Dan Loumena
