Dunlap out as LMU coach

Mike Dunlap is out as Loyola Marymount basketball coach after a record of 81108 in six seasons. Athletic director Craig Pintens announced the decision Sunday night. LMU was 11-21 overall and 4-12 in the West Coast Conference this season.

Kansas maintained its grip on the No. 1 ranking in the AP men’s college basketball poll, while No. 4 Florida State has its highest ranking in nearly five decades. The Jayhawks received all 65 first-place votes ahead of Gonzaga and Dayton . ... South Carolina ran through the Southeaste­rn Conference tournament to keep its hold on No. 1 in the women’s top 25. Oregon moved up to No. 2 after winning the Pac-12 tournament.

A former Michigan football player sued the school and its board of regents, alleging the late Dr. Robert E. Anderson sexually abused him. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, is seeking certificat­ion to be a class action and aims to include anyone else who says they were molested by the school doctor. The plaintiff, identified as John Doe, accuses the university of failing to remove the doctor despite complaints about him dating back decades . ... Tennessee defensive back Brandon Davis is recovering after being shot in the leg in an incident being investigat­ed by Knoxville police. Davis, 20, told police he was shot in a bar . ... Francisco Mendez, 19, who was charged with firstdegre­e murder in the April 2019 shooting of Washburn University football player Dwane Simmons and the wounding of New York Giants cornerback Corey Ballentine, will stand trial after a court-appointed psychiatri­st changed his initial diagnosis that the suspect was incompeten­t.

The NFL players’ union extended the deadline by two days for its members to vote on a new labor agreement with the league. Ballots from some 2,500 members now are due at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Saturday. Also, the Pro Football Hall of Fame endorsed the labor agreement, citing pension benefits for its inductees and other former players.

The Rams hired Justin Lovett as strength and conditioni­ng coach, the team announced. Lovett replaces Ted Rath, who left in February to join the Philadelph­ia Eagles staff after three seasons with the Rams. Lovett was Purdue’s director of football strength and conditioni­ng the last three years.

Veteran cornerback Josh Norman agreed to a oneyear contract with the Buffalo Bills, two people with knowledge of the decision told the Associated Press.

The Las Vegas Raiders released linebacker Tahir Whitehead after two seasons as a starter.

Milwaukee will pay Christian Yelich until 2042, when the All-Star outfielder is 50 years old. Yelich’s $215-million, nine-year contract with the team calls for the Brewers to defer $4 million each year from his $26-million annual salary from 2022-28.
