The days can feel pretty long when you can’t go to school. Or, like, anywhere. The good news is there’s a ton of awesome new streaming content for kids popping up all over the internet. These are our picks to break up the boredom and leave you a little smarter.
Calling all animal lovers:
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is bringing a safari to your living room. The curators introduce animals such as their famous hippopotamus, Fiona, on their Facebook page every day at noon.
Chef it up in the kitchen:
Help out your parents by whipping up healthy meals and snacks with The Kids’ Table. Instructors will walk you through how to make berry oatmeal bars, mac n’ trees and a custom pizza. The cooking classes are free until Saturday on their Facebook page. Visit their website to view their schedule and to get your ingredients ready for the next class.
Olaf can’t give warm hugs right now, but he can read to
you: Josh Gad, the hilarious actor who voices the snowman character Olaf in the “Frozen” movies, will be reading a children’s book each night until school opens again. To watch the #GadBookClub live, log on to twitter.com/joshgad at 4:30 p.m.
For you music lovers: A DJ school in Glendale called the Beat Junkies is hosting free classes on its YouTube page this week. In their “Home Room,” a teacher will show you how to mix songs together and scratch on turntables. Even if you don’t have your own, you can still take notes and sign up for an in-person kids course in the future.
Doodle with a famous
author: Ever dream of being a famous cartoonist? Mo Willems, the beloved author and illustrator, is hosting doodling classes every weekday at 10 a.m. The video sessions are called “Lunch Doodles” and can be viewed on the Kennedy Center’s YouTube page and on its website. Don’t forget to post a photo holding your masterpiece!
