Dodgers, Angels reveal first pools
The Dodgers on Sunday named 51 players to their initial 2020 season player pool, and none were drafted this month.
Pitcher Josiah Gray, the Dodgers’ No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, was the highest-rated prospect not on the 40-man roster included in the initial player pool.
The Angels listed 55 players in their pool, including top prospects Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh and Jordyn Adams.
First-round draft pick Reid Detmers, who signed for a reported bonus of $4.67 million shortly before the roster announcement, is not on the list.
The pools can be expanded to 60 players, so Detmers and Dodgers firstround pick Bobby Miller, who like Detmers is from Louisville, could be added to the groups.
The player pools were created for this year’s pandemic-shortened season. Opening day rosters can include 25 to 30 players. Rosters then shrink to 28 on the 15th day of the season and to 26 on the 29th day.
