Mets honor Seaver in comeback

Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer leading off the 10th inning Thursday night, lifting the New York Mets to a come-from-behind 9-7 win over the New York Yankees in the final Subway Series game of the season between the teams.

The Mets came back from deficits of 4-0 and 7-4 at Citi Field to earn a split of the six-game season series, all of which was played over the last six days.

Alonso raised his arms and looked toward the dugout as the Mets spilled out to celebrate a win on the day they honored franchise icon Tom Seaver, whose death was announced Wednesday, with tributes throughout the game.

at Pirates 6, Cubs 2: First-time father Bryan Reynolds hit a threerun homer in his return from paternity leave to lead Pittsburgh.

at Astros 8, Rangers 4: Aledmys Diaz hit a three-run homer and Michael Brantley added three RBIs. Zack Greinke struck out a season-high nine in six innings, allowing three runs and six hits.

at Phillies 6, Nationals 5 (10 innings): Alec Bohm hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning and Philadelph­ia completed a four-game sweep. Dick Allen’s No. 15 was retired by the Phillies.

Blue Jays 6, at Red Sox 2 (10 innings): Teoscar Hernandez hit a tiebreakin­g, three-run homer in the 10th inning after breaking up Boston’s no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the seventh.

White Sox 11, at Royals 6: Luis Robert’s 458-foot homer capped a second five-run inning of the night for Chicago.
