Texas rolls to win, faces UCLA next

Charli Collier had 23 points and 15 rebounds, and sixth-seeded Texas beat 11th-seeded Bradley 81-62 in a Hemisfair Regional firstround game in the NCAA women’s tournament Monday in San Marcos, Texas.

Collier is a 6-foot-5 junior who has declared herself available for the WNBA draft. The Longhorns moved to 19-9 and on Wednesday will face thirdseede­d UCLA, which beat Wyoming on Monday night. The Braves finished 17-12.

Wright State 66, Arkansas 62: Angel Baker made a go-ahead three-pointer with 29.1 seconds left, and the Raiders (19-7) beat the Razorbacks (19-9) to become the first No. 13 seed to beat a No. 4 since 2012.

Missouri State 70, UC Davis 51: Brice Calip had 18 points to help the fifthseede­d Lady Bears (22-2) defeat the 12th-seeded Aggies (13-3). Missouri State will play Wright State next.

Oregon 67, South Dakota 47: Erin Boley scored 22 points, and the sixth-seeded Ducks (14-8) beat the 11thseeded Coyotes (19-6).

Texas A&M 84, Troy 80: Jordan Nixon scored nine points over the final six minutes, and the second-seeded Aggies (24-2) escaped an upset bid by the 15th-seeded Trojans (22-6).

Belmont 64, Gonzaga 59: Destinee Wells had 25 points, and the 12th-seeded Bruins (21-5) earned their first NCAA women’s tournament win by defeating the fifth-seeded Bulldogs (23-4).

Brigham Young 69, Rutgers 66: Paisley Johnson Harding scored 28 points as the 11th-seeded Cougars (19-5) got the upset win.

Arizona 79, Stony Brook

44: Aari McDonald scored 20 points, sending the thirdseede­d Wildcats (17-5) to a runaway win. Arizona will take on BYU on Wednesday.

Louisville 74, Marist 43: Hailey Van Lith scored 17 points to help the secondseed­ed Cardinals (24-3) roll.

Iowa State 79, Michigan State 75:

Ashley Joens scored 33 points, powering the Cyclones (17-10) to a win.

Alabama 80, North Carolina 71: Jordan Lewis had 32 points, helping the Crimson Tide (17-9) prevail.

Northweste­rn 62, Central Florida 51: Lindsey Pulliam (25 points) led the Wildcats (16-8) to the victory.

Maryland 98, Mount St. Mary’s 45: Ashley Owusu scored 22 points as the Terrapins (25-2) rolled.

Georgia 67, Drexel 53: Jenna Staiti had 19 points, lifting the Bulldogs (21-6).

Indiana 63, Virginia Commonweal­th 32: Grace Berger (20 points) helped power the Hoosiers (19-5).
