MLB bans Donaldson one game for remarks
Major League Baseball suspended Josh Donaldson for one game after the New York Yankees slugger made multiple references to Jackie Robinson while talking to Chicago White Sox star Tim Anderson on Saturday. Donaldson was fined an undisclosed amount.
Donaldson has elected to appeal the penalty. Shortly before the suspension was announced, the Yankees said Donaldson was put on the COVID-19 injured list.
Angels catcher Max Stassi and right-handed pitcher Archie Bradley were reinstated from the injured list, catcher Chad Wallach and left-handed pitcher José Suarez were optioned to triple-A Salt Lake, and infielder Jose Rojas was designated for assignment. ... The Milwaukee Brewers put right-hander Freddy Peralta on the 15-day injured list because of a right lat strain and placed closer Josh Hader on the family medical emergency list. ... The St. Louis Cardinals put catcher Yadier Molina on the bereavement list and said right-hander Alex Reyes is scheduled to have shoulder surgery. ... Former Brooklyn Dodgers catcher and New York Mets coach Joe Pignatano died at 92.
Haskins drunk when struck
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins
was legally drunk when he was fatally struck by a dump truck on a Florida highway last month, according to the autopsy report.
The Broward County Medical Examiner said Haskins’ blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal level for driving when he was struck April 9. The 24-year-old former Ohio State star had run out of gas on Interstate 595 near Fort Lauderdale about dawn.
A person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press that the Washington Commanders have procured land in Virginia for what could be a potential site of the NFL team’s next stadium. The Commanders agreed to pay about $100 million for 200 acres of land in Prince William County and are still considering other locations in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, the person said. ... The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a multiyear contract with tight end Chig Okonkwo. ... The Indianapolis Colts announced that they signed Nick Foles to a two-year contract that reunites the quarterback and coach Frank Reich.

The team said it was aware of threats against Kadri after he collided with and injured Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington in Game 3. ... Police were searching for a woman suspected in the fatal shooting of a professional cyclist at an Austin, Texas, home.
