Expanded Access to Care

MemorialCare Medical Group Opens New Locations & Expands Virtual Care Throughout Southern California

-

The landscape of post-pandemic health care can mean experiencing longer than normal wait times to get appointments, due to patients postponing annual wellness checks and screenings during Covid. This has had a significant ripple effect, as people are coming in sicker and illnesses are being diagnosed in more advanced stages.

To combat challenges with access to health care, MemorialCare Medical Group has been expanding its services across Southern California — with new primary care and OB/GYN offices opening, as well as virtual care visits available seven days a week, 24 hours per day by a physician.

“It’s part of MemorialCare Medical Group’s mission to close the gap in access to health care and reduce wait times to receive care for crucial maternity and primary care services,” says Annamarie Jones, chief operating officer, MemorialCare Medical Group. “We are thrilled to be able to expand access to care across Southern California. In addition, we know our patients are busy, so we use a one-stop-shop approach when designing our new locations, which allows our patients to get the most out of each visit.”

Long Beach Expansion

In the past year, MemorialCare Medical Group opened a new location on Spring Street, bringing primary and OB/GYN care to the east side of Long Beach. The health center is bringing greater access to much needed maternity care for Long Beach residents, close to home. This location contains eight exam rooms, offers fetal non-stress tests, ultrasound, and lab services so busy women don’t have to travel to multiple locations — all they need is under one roof.

MemorialCare also expanded access to OB/GYN services in Long Beach with the acquisition of a highly regarded physician practice in Bixby Knolls. In addition, MemorialCare Medical Group’s busiest location, Los Altos health center, recently welcomed two new primary care physicians, and expanded pediatric care. The health center also offers internal medicine, family medicine, lab services, and an urgent care center. The expanded services and recruitment of new physicians has increased efficiency and decreased wait times.

Orange County Expansion

In north Orange County, MemorialCare Medical Group opened its first health center in Cypress, so residents in the MemorialCare network have greater access to care close to home. This location offers primary and urgent care with family medicine physicians, x-ray and lab draw stations — giving patients a convenient, one-stop-shop experience and access to physical therapy next door.

One of MemorialCare Medical Group’s most recent developments is a new health center in Irvine’s University Park. The 9,460-squarefoot health center contains primary care and lab services, so patients don’t need to travel elsewhere for lab work. For OB/GYN patients, ultrasound and fetal non-stress tests are also available, all under the same roof.

Virtual Visits & Portable Medical Exam Kit

For routine medical needs, MemorialCare offers 24/7 virtual visits with primary care physicians via a telehealth system that provides a check-in with a medical assistant and rooming virtually with a physician. This models an in-person visit and the flexibility of addressing real-time needs from wherever you are. MemorialCare also offers a Virtual Exam Kit — a handheld device that facilitates guided medical exams to listen to the heart, or check the ear or throat with your provider from your home or other locations outside of a medical office.
