While most local restaurateurs are delighted to be seeing red—as in the red tier allowing them to reopen—some won’t be opening for Easter dinner.

“Staff needs a break so we will be closed on Easter,” says Andrew Welch of ASA Los Gatos. “By then we will have had our second shots, and hopefully, they can enjoy their family.”

The Lexington House and Forbes Mill, both normally closed on Sunday, won’t be making an exception for Easter.

The Bywater, however, will be serving brunch and dinner as usual. In addition, they’ll have a take and bake Easter dinner to go, featuring smoked lamb leg with red wine reduction, mashed potatoes, green salad with red wine vinaigrette and pot de crème with shortbread cookies for dessert. The cost for is $90 for two, and orders must be picked up Easter Sunday, April 4, between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cocktails and wine are also available to go. Preorder at https://www.toasttab.com/the-bywater.

All of Alex Hult’s Flights Restaurant locations will be offering a three-course Easter brunch for $45 per person (comes to $53 when you pre-pay on Eventbrite) from 11 a.m. to 3.p.m. . Children under 10 eat free. To make reservations, visit Eventbrite.com and search on “Flights brunch.”

“For the main course, there will be a choice of eggs Benedict, churro waffles and chicken and waffles,” says Hult. “And for those who don’t feel comfortable dining indoors or outside at the restaurant, we will offer a special Easter picnic platters to go as part of the Kiwanis Club’s Easter Bunny Extravaganza.”

Courtesy of the Kiwanis Club, on Saturday, April 3, the Easter Bunny will be at Oak Meadow Park from 10 to 11:30a.m. Come with masks on and practice social distancing while the Easter Bunny meets and greets everyone. There will be photo opportunities, free treats and more.

Meant for enjoying with the family in a local park, on the beach or in the back yard, Flights Easter picnic platter includes an assortment of baguette sandwiches, mini-wraps, petite tea sandwiches, cheeses, pita and dip, cut fruit, grapes, marinated olives and house-made chips and dips. At $79, there’s enough food for four to six people, and proceeds will benefit local youth programs and the Kiwanis Club’s Turnaround Scholarships. Platters can be ordered by April 1 for no-contact pickup on April 3. Hult says they will have their very popular cocktail growlers available for preorder to go as well.

To preorder, visit Eventbrite.com and search on “kiwanis club lg.”

Chef Suhail Karimi of Eleven College Ave plans to be open for dinner on Easter, serving a special prix fixe menu, which will include a choice of soup or salad, a palate cleanser, a main dish (poultry, beef, fish or vegan), plus desserts.

Sidecar Modern Tavern will be open for Easter with the usual Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Expect a few twists on the usual fare, but you can still order brunch standouts like the breakfast pizza with Canadian bacon and potato, chili verde and lamb shoulder poutine.

Manresa Bread’s Easter menu by baker Avery Ruzicka features coconut and chocolate babka for $22; white chocolate strawberry panettone ($48); and a seasonal Manresa Bread cookie tin (20 cookies for $55), featuring chocolate pistachio rye biscotti, white flower lemon lavender shortbread, einkorn palmier, red wheat confetti cookie and almond flour Mexican wedding cookies—each highlighting a different freshly milled flour.

Additional items for pickup in Los Gatos include a pistachio galette; potato and herb quiche; quiche lorraine; and plenty of chocolate offerings, from signature chocolate croissants to chocolate cherry granola. There’s also rye bread and Breton-style Kouign Amann.

For Passover, Ruzicka is offering a gluten-free Chocolate Almond Cake ($30) and Matzah brittle ($12), available for same-day pickup March 27-April 4.
