Craig Jeffrey Mckim

-

11/18/1982 - 6/1/2022 Resident of Stevensville, MT

Craig Jeffrey Mckim passed on to the big public hunting ground of the afterlife on June 1, 2022. At 39 years old, Craig was young but lived a life full of love, wit, wisdom, dreams and hobbies. He is survived by many who loved him and are relishing in his memories of humor, snark, and smarts:

- his loving wife (Elizabeth Mckim, née Guerra) who is keeping his dream alive while swearing, just a little bit, as she learns how to parse through Craig’s own unique form of “organization”

- their three fur babies (Artemis, Enzo, Mochi) who cannot seem to find feet that taste quite as delicious as Craig’s - his mother and father (Christy and Jeff Mckim) who brought a boy into this world strong enough to do chin ups at the kitchen table before he could walk

- his brother (Nate Mckim) who taught him to sneak out of their room when they were young, and always had another business idea for Craig to poke holes in

- his sister (Sarah Bailey) who learned that big brothers will traumatize you but will be there anytime you really need it, unless it is Disneyland with toddlers.

- and of course his adoring nephews and nieces (Jake & Ansley Mckim, Avelyn & Lillian Bailey, Peter and Eddie Guerra) who knew that Uncle Craig was not only a really tall and strong child but also a good jungle gym and occasionally a punching bag

Craig tried his hand at many pursuits over his life, including punching his hand through a wall which left him with metal in his finger and a permanent but endearing “claw.” He trained others physically along with competing in mixed martial arts, he did construction, apprenticed as an electrician, and ended up in a job he was soon to leave to become a home inspector in the place he and his wife called their dream. They built a beautiful home in Montana where he planned to sit on the porch with a shot gun and yell at people to get off his lawn, though he was never a fan of manicured grass.

His love of the outdoors, conservation, and working with his hands was fostered by his grandfather (Ross Buchanan) who likely greeted him first in the afterlife with a firearm, a slap on the back, and pointing him to the best spot to enjoy the show and the wildlife.

Craig would likely say the highlight of his life was meeting his long time girlfriend who after 9 years became his wife (Elizabeth). There was never a moment lacking joy, food, hilarity, and togetherness. She fed his soul and his tummy, and he enjoyed every minute of it.

He was never one to feel disappointment over things he could not control so instead of condolence, flowers, or tears please feel free to give to a charity that meant something to him - Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. https://www. backcountryhunters.org/donate_once
