Chamber of Commerce celebrates the food and wine
Los Gatos is holding a celebration of the town's food and beverage purveyors, particularly David Kinch, who is stepping away from Manresa, his three-michelin-star restaurant that put
Los Gatos on the culinary map. On March 9 at 7 p.m., more than 35 restaurants, breweries and wineries will be offering tastes at the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce's annual celebration at Testarossa Winery. Tickets are $150 at https://www.losgatoschamber.com.
Los Gatos High School is gearing up for its annual spring musical. “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” will run March 24, 25, 30 and 31 and April 1. The musical is a family-friendly adaptation of Rick Riordan's bestselling novel and features an original rock score. www.lghs.net
In other LGHS news, congratulations to the staff of the 2021-22 “Wildcat” yearbook for earning a first-place award from the American Scholastic Press Association.
There is a lot going on at the Los Gatos Library in addition to reading.
“We are home to home to hundreds of community workshops, books, puzzles, digital resources and other materials you can access for free,” says Jennifer Laredo, division manager and teen librarian. “The San Francisco Opera will perform `La Boheme' on our Civic Center lawn this summer. We have free online tutoring, `Get Set Up' classes for seniors, access to Creativebug for crafting sessions and the latest books and movies available for your phone or tablet at any time.
“You can use our 3D printer or laser cutter and digitize photos or
VHS tapes. Come check out an art kit, a Naturalist Knapsack, a sewing machine, a ukulele or a parks pass, which gives you free access to a state park for three weeks.” Check out all that's available: losgatosca.gov/2828/ Los-gatos-public-library.
Another terrific community resource worth checking out is LGS Recreation, offering programs, classes and events for all ages and interests. How about a field trip with naturalist Greg Meyer to go kayaking on Tomales Bay? As a veteran of five of Greg's trips, I can guarantee an exciting time and a chance to see some of the Bay Area's beautiful scenery. www.lgsrecreation.org
It is wonderful news that the Los Gatos Theatre has reopened and is showing first-run movies on the big screen, including the latest “Mission: Impossible” installment this summer. Chris Gunsky, area director for locally owned Cinelux Theatres, says, “We are excited that the historic theater, built in the early 1900s, has been renovated and is now welcoming theatergoers. Our theater features digital projection, digital surround sound, reserved luxury seating, a wide range of tasty movie treats as well as a food menu featuring local wines, craft beers, and cocktails. We are happy to be a part of the Los Gatos community.” www. cineluxtheatres.com
