New Museum Los Gatos announces Kimberly Snyder as executive director
New Museum Los Gatos has named its new leader. Kimberly Snyder, who has been serving as interim director, is stepping up as NUMU'S executive director.
“I look forward to both strengthening the museum's existing programs and launching new and innovative ones with the help of our talented staff and board. I want to thank you for supporting our museum. The individual and collective acts of dedication and care by our sponsors and community highlight the importance of NUMU as a cultural hub for all,” Snyder said.
Snyder has served NUMU in various capacities for almost 10 years. The NUMU board said Snyder will focus on opening the Collections
Prep Lab, making the museum's art and history collections accessible to the general public and celebrating the 13th anniversary of Artnow, the Santa Clara County high school juried art exhibition and educational program.
“Kimberly not only has deep institutional knowledge, but a great passion for the museum and the community we serve,” said NUMU Board President Jan Schwartz. “During these past few months, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, keeping the museum on its upward trajectory. After deliberating with the NUMU board, staff and internal stakeholders, it was a unanimous decision to offer the position to Kimberly. The timing is perfect for renewed leadership, as we are beginning to update our strategic plan.”
Snyder replaces former director Ami Davis, who served in the role for two years. She moved on to work at Arts Council Santa Cruz County.
Davis oversaw NUMU through the pandemic, boosted community engagement and membership retention and established new community partnerships. She also guided NUMU'S Diversity Equity Access and Inclusion efforts, amplified donor and foundational engagement and tightened organizational systems.
NUMU is located at 106 E Main St. and is open Fridaysunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free for Los Gatos residents, NUMU members, youth under 18, active-duty military personnel and their families. General admission is $10, and tickets for seniors, students, teachers and veterans are $6.
