The new Patriot Party

- BY NICK THOMPSON

Is it time to refresh the roots of the tree of freedom with new political par ties?

We know the Democratic Party has moved to the far left in its member participation. While many of its party members ignore or support what has happened, it has gone through a major change adapting many leftist ideals and not being shy to share them with us. The Democrat Party is no longer the party of Jack Kennedy. The days of both parties getting together in a local establishment for drinks after a long day in the House and Senate are over.

There are prominent signs that there are two different Americas, examples being Democrats wanting open borders, not seeing what higher taxes can do to families, not wanting America to be energy independent, standing by and watching our histor y being changed or eliminated, and men and boys being permitted into girls and women’s sports. Most of these examples are at the forefront of the current administration’s 30 executive orders.

In addition to the above examples, Democrats are encouraging extreme leftist media moguls of Facebook, Google and Twitter to have total control over free speech under the guise of fact checking or some other made up excuse.

Maybe a new name is needed for the Democratic Party, because they do not want to work with their opposing party like they did many years ago. I’m not sure what the new name should be; that will be up to them to work out. But, since the younger Democratic generation and some of the older Democrats are so enamored with socialism and an outspoken socialist who ran in the Democratic Party, something with socialism in the name would be appropriate.

As for the Republican Party, it hasn’t changed that much except Trump woke up some 70 million ordinary Americans to the size of and left leaning slant of the Washington swamp, which has been ensconced for many years. One of many things the Republican Party can do is vote out any “Never Trumpers,” as they tend to side with the other party. This excommunication will be easy when some 70 million supporters of Trump decide to go with the new party established as the Patriot Party. Its representative colors should be red, white and blue which will represent its belief in the U.S. Constitution.

Let me explain what the new Patriot Party should stand for. For starters, a belief that the Founding Fathers were right in their vision for the United States as outlined below:

The establishment of a free and sovereign countr y where individuals are free to work toward their full potential without undo interference from others or government.

A countr y where a person could speak without fear of being locked up.

A countr y where honest elections would be held by moral, God-fearing people.

A countr y where the people held power over their own lives, not a collection of unelected bureaucrats and lifetime politicians.

A countr y where all the people play by the same rules and no one gets a free pass.

My goodness, this almost sounds like speech from the beginnings of this countr y by revolutionaries named George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin. We have come a long way since those early days of establishing a free and open countr y. Many have taken advantage of our openness for their own benefit. It is time we take a long, hard look at the direction of this countr y and get back to its basics.
