As more people become vaccinated against COVID-19 and restrictions on gatherings start to ease, one of the first big events to return to Loveland’s calendar will be the Timber Dan Toy Show and Sale.

The Loveland Lions Club has gotten the go-ahead from the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment to stage the show Saturday, April 10, at The Ranch.

Denny Soucek of the Lions Club said those who attend can expect a full array of vendors of antique and collectible toys, as the Lions have sold all the available tables for the event, more than 130.

“The restrictions are that we have to limit people coming in,” he said, explaining there could be lines outside the show while the Lions only let new customers in when others leave.

“People, if they follow the guidelines, I think we’ll be OK,” Soucek said.

Masks will be required, and there will be no sales of food, he added.

The Timber Dan shows have been taking place since 1989, and vendors usually bring in everything from dolls and stuf fed toys to action figures to Star Wars collectibles to Match Box and Hot Wheels cars, as well as pressed metal, die cast, cast iron and litho toys.

The show will be held in the First National Bank Exhibition Hall at The Ranch.

Admission will be $5 for adults, while children age 12 and under are admitted free.

Proceeds from the sales, which traditionally have been held twice a year, go toward the Loveland Lions Club’s eye projects.

The group spends about $14,000 a year to pay for eye exams and eye glasses for low income people, and it collects eyeglasses that are no longer needed for recycling, repairing them for use by people in developing nations.
