Members consider appropriation packages
Loveland City Council will consider $1.3 million in new appropriations from the general fund at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of 2024, the council has approved $1.2 million in new expenditures, including $771,656 for separation agreements for its direct reports and $465,000 in legal expenses. Staff is also asking for a $125,000 general fund appropriation to install red light cameras.
New appropriations for city enterprise funds include $11,908,855 for the expansion of Pulse broadband with services to Timnath and other neighboring areas, which are providing the funding for the effort.
The city’s golf division also is requesting a new appropriation of $3.3 million to fund improvements to the maintenance facility at the Olde Course.
The mid-year package also includes $5 million in new appropriations related to the transfer of capital expansion fees for police and streets.
There also are $20.5 million in carryover appropriations for projects or programs started or initiated last year, but not yet completed, including $7 million for solid waste trucks ordered in 2023.
The City Council also will consider updates to its procurement code, as proposed in a January study session.
According to materials in the agenda packet, among the proposed changes are increases in contract amounts requiring competitive bidding or formal City Council approval, updates to requirements for professional services contracts and new rules for posting bid announcements.
Later, the City Council will vote on whether to go into executive session to discuss a potential business assistance agreement with a confidential prospect and another executive session for litigation updates.
