Chicago is very pedestrian-friendly, so get your walking boots on. From the glitzy retail strip of N Michigan known as the Magnificent Mile; the Gold Coast, chic Lincoln Park and Lakeview are northwest (in that order); River North, gritty Bucktown and Wicker Park lie west; The Loop and West Loop are southwest across the river; you’ll know when you’re in the Viagra Triangle (E Chicago, N Rush and N State); and wherever you are, the lake is always east.
