Beavers get the W over Jessieville
On the road once again, the Glen Rose Beavers fought hard as they opened 5-3A conference play against the Jessieville Lions.
After being tied in the first quarter and only leading by a touchdown at the half, the Beavers pulled away in the second half to get another dominating win, 43-13. The win puts the Beavers at 3-1 overall for the 2020 season and at 1-0 for conference play. The Beavers return home next Friday to host the Genoa Central Dragons (3-1 overall, 1-0 conference) for homecoming. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Beavers got things going in the first quarter when quarterback Wesley Launius threw to Colton Hixon on a 34 yard passing
touchdown at the 7:58 mark. The Beavers made the PAT to lead 7-0. The Lions tied the game at the 6 minute mark after returning a 40 yard interception. The first quarter ended with a tie at 7-7.
The Beavers broke the tie when Launius ran for a 37 yard touchdown with one minute left in the first half. The PAT was good as the Beavers led 14-7 at halftime.
In the second half, things started to pick up for the Beavers. Launius threw a 48 yard touchdown pass to
Noah Wright at the 8:25 mark of the third quarter. A successful 2-point conversion put the Beavers up 2213. The Lions scored once in the second half off a 51 yard pass at the 3:17 mark. The Lions missed their PAT to trail 22-13. Glen Rose’s Ethan Taylor then rushed for a three yard touchdown at the 1:51 mark to put the Beavers up 28-13.
The Beavers scored twice in the fourth quarter. Dalton Taylor had a three yard touchdown run and a successful 2-point conversion to put the Beavers up 36-13 at the 11:09 mark. At the 4:29 mark, Conner Taylor ran for a 21 yard touchdown. The PAT was good as the Beavers went up 43-13.
