The Glen Rose Jr. Beavers remained undefeated as they hosted 5-3A Conference rival Jessieville Jr. Lions at Beaver Stadium last Thursday.

The Jr. Beavers had a dominating win over the Jr. Lions, 40-0, to go 3-0 overall and 1-0 in 5-3A conference play. The Jr. Beavers will look to remain perfect as they travel to Genoa Central Thursday to take on the Jr. Dragons. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

In Thursday’s game against the Jr. Lions, the Jr. Beavers dominated the game scoring on six of their 10 drives. To start the game, the Jr. Lions won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. This gave the Jr. Beavers the ball and on their first drive, the Jr. Beavers were intercepted by the Jr. Lions. The Jr. Beavers quickly turned things around after the turnover. The Jr. Beavers defense forced a turnover on downs to give the ball back to the offense. Starting at midfield, the Jr. Beavers ran two plays before finding the end zone. The Jr. Beavers scored on a 52-yard passing touchdown to score the first points of the game. The Jr. Beavers

PAT was no good, but with 4:18 left in the first had taken a 6-0 lead over the Jr. Lions.

The Jr. Beavers scored two more times in the first. On the kickoff after their touchdown, the Jr. Beavers were able to gain possession after the Jr. Lions fumbled the kickoff. This set the Jr. Beavers up with first and goal from the Jessieville 6-yard line. One play was all it took for the Jr. Beavers to score on a 6-yard rush. The Jr. Beavers then went for a 2-point conversion and were unsuccessful, but held the lead 12-0 with 4:04 left in the first quarter.

The Jr. Beavers third touchdown of the first quarter came at the 2:18 mark. After holding the Jr. Lions to a punt, the Jr. Beavers ran one play and scored on a 21yard touchdown pass. Their 2-point attempt was no good once again, but the Jr. Beavers led the game, 18-0.

In the second quarter, the Jr. Beavers started with the ball after forcing the Jr. Lions to punt in the final seconds of the first quarter. Starting at their own 40-yard line the Jr. Beavers were able to score on a 10-yard pass after four plays. The Jr. Beavers 2-point attempt was good and with

6:49 left in the second led the game 26-0.

The Jr. Beavers had one more scoring drive in the second quarter. After forcing a Jr. Lions punt, the Jr. Beavers started at the 50-yard line. After setbacks to start the drive, the Jr. Beavers were able to sustain the drive to score on

a 2-yard touchdown rush. The Jr. Beavers then faked the extra point attempt and converted the 2-point conversion to lead 34-0 with two minutes left in the first half.

The Jr. Beavers would have possession of the ball two more times in the second but failed to score. One

drive ended in a turnover on downs and the next ended as the game clock wound down to zero.

In the second half, the Jr. Beavers were able to score early to bring out the sportsmanship rule. The Jr. Beavers scored at the 5:11 mark on a 5-yard touchdown pass to

lead 40-0. The PAT was no good. The Jr. Beavers had possession of the ball once more in the second half, but turned the ball over on downs. The Jr. Lions had three drives in the second half that ended with a blocked punt, a turnover on downs, and the clock running out.
