More than 700 ballots mailed

As of Wednesday, officially 778 absentee ballots have been mailed out for the 2020 November General Election, according to Hot Spring County Clerk Sandy Boyette. She noted, her office staff have received more than 200 ballots back from registered voters.

October 27 is the deadline for county clerks to receive absentee ballot applicatio­ns by mail, fax, or electronic mail for the general election.

Boyette said this has been the most absentee ballots received for an election during her term as the county clerk.

For months the county election staff has been in the process to prepare for the November general election. In September, Boyette mentioned her office staff had received around 600 Arkansas applicatio­ns for an absentee ballot to be mailed out and processed for the general election.

There are three envelopes voters will receive in the mail that includes an envelope for the ballot. The county clerk’s office is using a new balotar ballot on demand printing system to operate for absentee ballots.

October 5 was the deadline for voter registrati­on.

The 2020 November general election is considered one of the most anticipate­d presidenti­al elections in history.

The Malvern City Council meets every first and second Monday of each month.
