Mattie Nolen

Mattie Nolen, 69 of Malvern, Arkansas transition­ed from Labor to Reward on Thursday, November 12th, 2020. Mattie Nolen was born March 23, 1951 in Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas to the late Charlie & Corrine Jones.

Mattie graduated from Malvern High School. She later received a certificat­e of completion in Interior Decoration from Ouachita Vocational Technical School, a certificat­e of completion as a Certified Nursing Assistant and graduated from ABC Barber College as a Licensed Barber.

Mattie accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Deliveranc­e Temple Institute. She was a member of Women of Purpose, loved the Lord, and had a strong affection for studying the bible. Mattie’s favorite pass time was shopping and she had a servant’s heart. She would give her time and resources to the elderly, young mothers and others.

Mattie worked for Hot Spring County Memorial Hospital. She was also the owner of Spic N Span Janitorial Services for several years and a Barber. Mattie retired from the Malvern School District in 2017.

Mattie was preceded in the death by: Husband

Cortez Nolen; Parents Charlie and Corrine Jones; Brother: John Jones. Mattie leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Jwan Baughn of Malvern, Arkansas, Sonya Baughn Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Virginia Baughn of Washington, DC; son: Theodore ( Courtney) Baughn of Mayflower, Arkansas; grandchild­ren: Kinnedy Elyse Johnson, Maddison Yasmin Johnson, Justice Johnson, Mya Baughn, Ava Baughn, Halle Baughn; sister Laura Gulley and one brother McNeil ( Francine) Jones of Malvern, Arkansas. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Linda Burks

Linda Burks, age 64, of Malvern passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. She was born January 2, 1956, in Hot Springs, to William G. and Violet Ritchey Burks. She was a registered nurse for over 30 years, mainly working at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Linda loved traveling, spending time with friends and spoiling her grandbabie­s. She was a devoted member of Taylor’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, William Gail Burks and her brother, Steven R. Burks.

Survivors include her mother, Violet Burks of Malvern; daughter Hether Embrey ( husband, Brian) of Maumelle; sister, Carol Abernathy of Little Rock and Laurie Burks of Grand Prairie, Texas and her grandchild­ren, Christian and Avery Embrey.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Epilepsy Foundation or Autism Speaks.

A virtual memorial service, due to Covid, will be held at a later date. The family will post when the memorial will be able to be viewed.

Gene A. Stiggers

Gene A. Stiggers, Jr 66 of Texarkana, Texas went to be with the Lord Sunday morning November 15, 2020 at Whispering Pines Retirement Center. Gene was born August 12, 1954 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Gene A. Stiggers, Sr. and Gertha M. White At the age of eleven he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He served three years in the U. S. Marines, and was a Rubber Worker at Red River Army Depot.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Gene A. Stiggers, Sr. and Gertha M. Moses; brother: Paul W. Moses; nephew: Dwight Lee, Jr.

Gene leaves to cherish his memories his sisters: Pamela A. ( Dwight) Lee, Oklahoma; Jamesetta Y. White, Texarkana. One brother Otis L.( Metoya) Moses, Texarkana; One very special aunt: Stella M.
