Bismarck Lions tame the Lions of Mount Ida

Back on the court, the Bismarck Sr. Lions and Jr. Lions were on the road taking on Mount Ida Tuesday.

Both the Jr. and Sr. Lions claimed victory over the Lions. The Jr. Lions won 41-16 while the Sr. Lions won 41-33. The Sr. Lions will be back at home at Holt Gymnasium for their next game against Woodlawn tonight. Games begin at 4:30 p.m.

Bismarck Jr. Lions 41, Mount Ida Jr. Lions 16

The Jr. Lions took early control over the Mount Ida Jr. Lions in the first quarter. Bismarck outscored Mount Ida 8-3 in the first to take the early lead. In the second, the Bismarck Jr. Lions continued to dominate, outscoring Mount Ida 13-7. At the half, Bismarck led 21-10.

It was in the third quarter that the Bismarck Jr. Lions put the game away. Bismarck scored 10 points while holding Mount Ida scoreless. In the fourth, Bismarck added another 10 points while Mount Ida added six points.

The leading scorers for the Bismarck Jr. Lions were Riley Tuttle (8 points), Gabe Digiacomo (8 points), Tony Weeks (6 points), Joseph Roberson (6 points), Dalton Daniels (6 points), Vernon Tenbrink (3 points), Ben Keithley (2 points), Ryder Boyette (2 points), and Kyle Branstette­r (2 points).

Bismarck Sr. Lions 41, Mount Ida Sr. Lions 33

It was a close game between the Sr. High squads of Bismarck and Mount Ida. In the first quarter Bismarck pulled ahead by one point 13-12 to take the lead. In the second quarter, Bismarck once again outscored Mount Ida by one point to go into halftime with a 23-21 lead.

The Bismarck defense came up big in the third quarter to only allow two points to Mount Ida. Bismarck added another nine points to take the lead 32-23. In the fourth, Mount Ida outscored Bismarck 10-9, but wasn’t able to overcome their deficit to fall 41-33 to Bismarck.

Leading for the Bismarck Sr. Lions was Blake Smith (13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists), Ian Smith (13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), Dawson King (7 points, 8 rebounds), Collin Parrie (4 points, 3 rebounds), Beau Wesson (3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), and Wayne Porterfiel­d (1 point, 3 rebounds, 2 steals).
